About us
Our Mission
CoBIC is a brain research center specializing in neuroimaging, where state-of-the-art research infrastructure, scientific excellence, and a constructive, respectful collaborative environment create optimal conditions for interdisciplinary research.
CoBIC is a collaboration between Goethe University, the Max Planck Institute for Empirical Aesthetics, and the Ernst Strüngmann Institute for Neuroscience.
The close collaboration between basic science institutes and Frankfurt University Medical Center provides researchers with a dynamic environment for innovative research projects.
The shared goal of researchers at CoBIC is to better understand how the brain works. CoBIC’s research focuses on, among other things, the cerebral foundations of language, memory, information processing, and music. Our translational projects enhance our understanding of neurological and psychiatric disorders. To this end, we integrate the latest findings from imaging research into clinical practice so that patients can benefit from innovations as quickly as possible. In collaboration with a wide range of other neuroscientific subdisciplines, we are also engaged in basic science, which not only yields new insights but can also help improve care for future generations of patients.
We are working hard to make a meaningful contribution to scientific progress and the application of our findings. We do this in the belief that this is best achieved when people collaborate with a critical eye toward the content and a spirit of trust toward one another, working together to create something extraordinary. This philosophy is reflected in our name: Cooperative Brain Imaging.
Organization
Scientists at CoBIC are organized into working groups. The leaders of these working groups together form the CoBIC Assembly, which coordinates research projects and joint activities. Above them is the CoBIC Board of Directors, which makes decisions on overarching issues of scientific collaboration.
